CROSS COUNTRY

1.    Competition will be as follows: Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity, Boys Junior Varsity and Girls Junior Varsity.

 

2.    Boys and Girls Varsity races will be 5 km (5000 meters).  Boys and Girls Junior Varsity races will be 3200 meters (about 2 miles).

 

3.    Three league meets are to be held for all participating schools at Ceres River Bluff Regional Park, Hatch Road, Ceres as follows:  On the Wednesdays of the first week in September, the last week in September and the last week in October.

 

4.    Other schools from the area may be allowed to participate by permission of the Trans Valley League.

 

5.    League Championship is determined as follows: 1 point for each team a school beats in the first two meets and 2 points for each team a school beats in the final meet.  The team with the highest total points from the three meets is the League Champion.  In the event of a tie a co-championship will be awarded.

 

6.    Scoring and rules for each meet will be followed as printed in the most current CIF Cross Country Handbook.  In the event of a tie in a meet the 6th runner who finishes ahead of another 6th runner breaks the tie.

 

7.    Team medals will be awarded to the seven (7) top runners on the Varsity Championship teams.  Individual medals will be awarded to the league’s top five (5) finishers in the final meet, excluding the Championship Teams.  Coach of the Year certificates are to be awarded.  Refer to TVL Constitution, Financial Section, Article 3, Awards.

 

8.    League teams shall participate as per Sac Joaquin Section Bylaws: Article 5, General Rules, 504 Season of Sport, “Limited Period” dates vary from year to year.
